$8,000 Grant Awarded to the Education Partnership

Pittsburgh, Pa.  – The Standard Charitable Foundation, with support from Standard Bank, has awarded an $8,000 grant to The Education Partnership, a Pittsburgh-based non-profit that provides students and teachers with the basic supplies they need to succeed.  The $8,000 grant will be funding the Adopt-a-School program which will provide “Power Tools Homework Kits” to every student at Arsenal Middle School (Lawrenceville, Pa.) and Sunrise School (Monroeville, Pa.).

As always, Standard Bank associates also go one step further as they volunteer their time to assemble the kits and personally deliver them to students at Arsenal and Sunrise. Being part of a community is about more than giving money, it’s about taking the time to personally make a difference.


The Education Partnership

 In the seven-county region of Southwestern Pennsylvania, more than 80,000 students (1 in 3 students) go to school every day without the most basic supplies. Education is the only way students can improve their situation and create a better future; but without basic supplies, it is nearly impossible to succeed. We believe a good education is one of the best opportunities a student has to reach their potential. In classrooms throughout area, The Education Partnership bridges the gap between what students have and what they need to succeed. To reach the students who face the greatest educational inequality, The Education Partnership serves schools where 70% or more of students qualify for the National Free and Reduced Lunch Program. In the 2019-2020 school year, we will serve 124 schools as full-partner schools and provide them with over $4 million dollars worth of school and office supplies. The Education Partnership uses financial donations to buy school and classroom supplies in bulk and also collects donated (re-purposed, recycled, new or nearly new) office supplies, equipment, and furniture.   2. Spread the word – Tell people what we do on your social media feeds to help share our needs and mission (and be sure to tag us!).
  3. Donate box tops for education – We can turn your box tops into donations.
  4. Volunteer on a committee – Time is valuable, and so are your unique skills. Help with events and programming.
  5. Organize an event – Collect supplies, host an event/party— or even request donations to us instead of birthday gifts.
  6. Give – We can do a whole lot with a little! We can turn $1 into $8 in supplies, and just $25 supports a student for an entire year!
  7. Matching gifts – Talk to your employer about their matching gift program today! They don’t offer one? Ask your spouse!
  8. Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) – We are an approved recipient of EITC donations for our STEAM Lending Library. EITC allows companies, S-Corporations, Partnerships, and private LLCs a tax credit for donations made to non-profit educational improvement organizations.
