Frostburg, MD – The Standard Charitable Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Evergreen Heritage Center Foundation in Frostburg. With its partners, the Evergreen Heritage Center Foundation leverages the historic 130-acre Evergreen Heritage Center farm and estate to provide high-quality education programs for more than 7,000 youth and adults annually. With an emphasis on experiential (hands-on) education, the Foundation encourages exploration and investigation. The Foundation provides the knowledge and skills for individuals to sustain both themselves and our planet.
The $5,000 in grant funding will support the Foundation’s 2018 summer science camp by providing scholarships for children whose families qualify for USDA’s Free and Reduced Meal program as determined by Allegany County Public Schools. These camps provide outdoor activities that encourage children to discover the wonders of the environment, while also increasing interest in both science education and science careers.
