Standard Bank Helps Fund Four Children’s Wishes
Monroeville, PA – January 6, 2006 – Standard Bank (“Standard” or the “Bank”) announces the results of its 12th annual Make-A-Wish Campaign. On December 21, 2005, a $13,600 donation was presented to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia (“Make-A-Wish”) on behalf of the Associates of Standard Bank. The donation will provide funding for the wishes of four children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Carolyn Tlumack, the Bank’s 2005 Make-A-Wish Committee spokesperson, commented, “A wide variety of fundraising events were held including Premier Jewelry parties as well as Entertainment Book, Gourmet Apple and strip ticket sales to name a few”. One of our most important core fundraisers continues to be payroll deduction donations by our generous Associates at the Bank.”
Tim Zimmerman, President and CEO added, “This is an amazing accomplishment that all of us take pride in. We are very thankful to so many people inside and outside of the Bank who generously supported this year’s campaign.
Their support ranged from lending a hand or two for a fundraising event to buying a strip ticket. A sincere thank you is in order to our very supportive Board of Directors, Associates, families and friends, wonderful customers and local businesses whose donations and efforts will make such a big difference in the lives of “wish” children and their families.”
Standard Bank’s Associates have supported Make-A-Wish for the past 12 years. Since the Bank began making donations, it has provided funding of $251,400 for a grand total of 71 wishes. Make-A-Wish fulfills the wishes of children between the ages of 2½ and 18 diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. Some of the wishes granted include trips to Walt Disney World (the most popular wish), and range from meeting celebrities and shopping sprees to home computers and swimming pools. Each child’s wish is limited only by their imagination. If you know of a child who could be referred to Make-A-Wish, please call 412.471.WISH.
