Standard Bank Helps Six Children’s Wishes Come True
Monroeville, PA – January 12, 2005 – Standard Bank (“Standard” or the “Bank”) announces the results of its 11th annual Make-A-Wish Campaign. On December 21, 2004, a donation in the amount of $20,400 was presented to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia (“Make-A-Wish”) on behalf of the Associates of Standard Bank. This was enough funding to fulfill the wishes of “six” wish children.
Kathleen Comini, spokesperson on behalf of the Bank’s 2004 Make-A-Wish Committee, commented, “A wide variety of fundraising events were held including our Second Annual Cow Patty Bingo, with added musical entertainment provided by Dallas Marks, as well as Gourmet Apple, Entertainment Book, Strip Ticket and Cookie Dough sales to name a few….and we can’t forget to mention one of our most important core fundraisers being payroll deduction by our generous Associates.”
Dana LaVerde, AVP/Manager of Human Resources added, “This is an amazing accomplishment all of us should take pride in. So many people inside and outside of the Bank generously supported this year’s campaign - perhaps by lending a hand or two during a fundraising event or by buying a lottery ticket. A sincere thank you is in order to our devoted Board of Directors, Associates, family and friends, wonderful customers and local businesses through whose donations and efforts were able to make such a big difference in the lives of these wish children and their families.”
For the past eleven years, Standard Bank’s Associates have supported Make-A-Wish. Since the Bank began making donations, it has provided funding in the amount of $227,800 for a grand total of 67 wishes. Make-A-Wish fulfills the wishes of children between the ages of 2½ and 18 diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. Some of the wishes granted include trips to Walt Disney World (the most popular wish), and range from meeting celebrities and shopping sprees to home computers and swimming pools.
