Standard Bank Helps Fund Six Children’s Wishes

Monroeville, PA – January 16th, 2008 – Standard Bank (“Standard” or the “Bank”) announces the results of its 14th annual Make-A-Wish Campaign. This year’s campaign produced a total of $20,400, enough to fund six (6) wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. On December 17, 2007, during a live WSHH 99.7 FM Radio broadcast, a $18,150 donation was presented to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia (“Make-A-Wish”) and a $2,250 donation was presented to the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic Chapter on behalf of the Associates of Standard Bank.

Melissa Waltman,  the Bank’s 2007 Make-A-Wish Committee spokesperson, commented, “A wide variety of fundraising events were held including an Evening for Wishes dance and Entertainment Book, baked goods, candy bar and strip ticket sales to name a few.  One of our most important core fundraisers continues to be payroll deduction donations by our generous Associates at the Bank.”

Ms. Waltman also added, “We are very grateful for the continuing generous support of Standard Bank’s Board of Directors, Associates, and our customers and businesses in the communities that we serve.  Their support is crucial in order for us to help fulfill children’s wishes.”

Tim Zimmerman, President and CEO, commented, “I am very pleased that our Annual Campaign was successful again this year.  The committee worked very hard and produced two more wishes than last year.”

Standard Bank’s Associates have supported Make-A-Wish for the past 14 years.  Since the Bank began making donations, it has provided funding of $275,400 for a grand total of 81 wishes.  Make-A-Wish fulfills the wishes of children between the ages of 2½ and 18 diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions.  Some of the wishes granted include trips to Walt Disney World (the most popular wish), and range from meeting celebrities and shopping sprees to home computers and swimming pools.  Each child’s wish is limited only by their imagination.  If you know of a child who could be referred to Make-A-Wish, please call 412.471.WISH.
